Oh, the horror

Oh, the horror

This picture from the website of the Australian Pavilion at next year's Shanghai World Expo has deeply disturbed me. It seems even the Australian Government is buying into this nonsense of eliminating capital letters at the start of proper nouns. In the name of all that is sacred to the English language, this must be stopped.

Expo pavilions...

I do hope the Oxford dictionary has a pavilion, shaped like a dictionary (to teach visitors the wonders of capitalizing proper nouns), to join those memorable Expo pavilions, like the Queensland financial institution whose pavilion at Expo 88 was shaped like a ATM.

What really gets me is
What really gets me is that Australian governments spend billions on education, then tick off on this sort of thing.
