Cheeky advertising

Channel Ten's radio commercials for its hour-long 5pm news are now offering "something extra", a nice reference to the axing of Nine's 5.30pm show Extra. Will the fans of that show really make the switch to Ten? Time, and the ratings figures, will tell.

I counted 7 times in that ad alone...BRING EXTRA BACK TO CHANNEL 9!
I believe a "switch" is on.
Why?
Basicly people are fed up with networking, and are turning to the only decent non-gameshow, non childrens program, non repeat, non Andrew Daddo program, non-networked program on at 5pm.
Add to that a "This Afternoon" boycott, by Brisbane viewers and Ten could snap up a hard earned weekly win in that 5pm slot for the first time.
Yesterday's averages
(Figures rounded down to nearest thousand)
Seven average Brisbane audience 4:30-6pm=121,000
Nine average Brisbane audience 4:30-6pm=116,000
Ten average Brisbane audience 4:30-6pm=147,000
Compared with during the week the axing was announced.
Thursday 18th June
Seven average Brisbane audience 5pm-6pm (no 4:30 figures available)=147,000
Nine average Brisbane figures 4:30-6pm=125,000/5pm-6pm=160,000
Ten average Brisbane figures 4:30-6pm=136,000/5pm-6pm=165,000
This is something 7 should worry about. The 9 figures are propped up now only by the Gold Coast news bulletin not Extra.
It is a case of lead in or no lead in, which Ten will always come out the winner, and sore heads will prevail in 7 and 9's newsrooms, as they realise that their audience is going to Ten like a hill of ants, instead of picking suitcases or answering questions.
I wonder Brett, if Nine has a backup plan in case This Afternoon fails?
For one thing, I am tipping Extra will come back if TA's axed due to pressure from Brisbane viewers.
But who would host a "revived" Extra, as Heather Foord's been transferred back to the newsroom and reading weekends?
Paige? Youngberry? Rick Burnett? Brett Debritz?
I am excited beyond words Brett – thanks for sharing!!
