Thanks for nothing, Virgin Blue

Thanks for nothing, Virgin Blue

Posted November 13th, 2009 by debritz

I received an email tonight saying I'd been upgraded to Gold status on Virgin Blue's Velocity Rewards frequent-flyer program. Then, nearly three hours later, I received another email saying:

Oops! Due to an error you've received our previous email by mistake. Please disregard the free upgrade communication as unfortunately you do not qualify for that upgrade.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks for nothing -- and for reminding me that I was right to pump all my credit-card points into the Qantas FF scheme.
Update: Is an email a contract? Class action anyone?

You forgot about my

You forgot about my favourite part. The "Warm Regards".

Oh come on ... wouldn't
Oh come on ... wouldn't you do anything just to enjoy the luxurious surrounds of the Virgin Lounge? Seriously though, Virgin has made a blue -- ha!, I slay me -- and they should think of something creative to appease us. AT least a free once-only pass to the Lounge would be nice...

Brett, it didn't just happen

Brett, it didn't just happen to you.

From Mumbrella

"On Friday afternoon – which was, appropriately enough for the airline, Friday the 13th – Virgin Blue emailed its entire Velocity loyalty scheme database (including those who had opted out of receiving messages) with the following news: “We’ve got a treat for you – a free upgrade to Velocity Gold!”

It also has a interesting link to a article by Debritz...
