Superduper Bowl

Superduper Bowl

Super Bowl XLIV drew 106.5 million viewers in the US - making it the most-watched show ever in America. It beats the record of 106 million viewers, held by the last episode of M*A*S*H in February 1983. But the US population has grown by 31 per cent since then - and you can bet people around the world won't be watching repeats of the 2010 Super Bowl game in 27 years' time.

Brett, I reckon M*A*S*H

Brett, I reckon M*A*S*H won't last the year in Brisbane at 5pm. Deal will move, it's a matter of whether Seven knows Deal's milk is souring with Brisbane viewers, or they are hopeful of a revival, which real milk can't do.

Even the venerable Saturday Disney is not immune, with Seven launching Saturday Sunrise, with the kids program moving to 9am.

Based on Monday's
Based on Monday's ratings, Deal is outgunning Hot Seat nationally, though not in Brisbane, where the Nine show is doing far better (making a return of Extra even more unlikely). I can't see Seven changing the national schedule for the sake of one state only and I don't believe the local Seven will be allowed to go it alone. That's the problem with networking - its one-size-fits-all approach.

Nine did it for years for

Nine did it for years for Extra (where everything from Supermarket Sweep, to Hot Seat's early days was screened at 5pm in Brisbane) Why couldn't Seven? Surely the rerun rights for four cities for M*A*S*H, is cheaper than a five city deal, after all, sometimes Deal has dipped to the mid 70,000's at 5:30 prior to ratings ending last year, and the regional QLD O&O airs TT at 5pm.

Or is Seven scared of being on level pegging with Nine, or worse... fearing if they tried a local program, it would do as badly as Local Edition ten years ago.
